Private beta testing guide

Thank you for helping test Art Driving Manager, a lesson diary for driving instructors. This beta is not yet approved for storing real pupils' information or processing payments.

1. Create a fictional pupil

Use a made-up name such as “Test Pupil A”. Leave personal contact information fictional. Create a sample two-hour lesson and check it appears on the diary.

2. Check lesson colours and clashes

Confirm upcoming lessons, completed lessons, away periods and driving tests display differently. Create two overlapping fictional lessons and check the overlap warning can show their names.

3. Try repeated lessons carefully

Create a short fictional recurring series. Check its dates, then test deleting one lesson, this and future lessons, using the available deletion controls. Deleted bookings remain available in Settings for recovery.

4. Restore a deleted lesson

Open Settings → Recently deleted bookings and recover a fictional lesson. Confirm the correct date and time returns and check for overlaps.

5. Check cloud synchronisation

  1. Sign in to the same test instructor account on two devices.
  2. Create one fictional lesson on device A and ensure the cloud save succeeds.
  3. Refresh device B and confirm the lesson appears.
  4. Change the fictional lesson on device B; allow syncing, then check device A.
  5. Test a different instructor account separately: its diary should not show the first instructor's records.

Do not simultaneously edit the same lesson on two devices while testing.

6. Report a problem

Explain what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. Send screenshots containing only fictional records to support@artdrivingmanager.co.uk. Never share your password or recovery link.

Change your instructor login email

While signed in, open Settings → Change login email. Enter the new address and tap Send confirmation email once. Check your current and new inboxes for the provider confirmation links; if both arrive, open both. After confirmation, sign out and sign in using the new email and your existing password. The same instructor account keeps its diary. Do not create a new account. If the provider rejects the request or an email does not arrive, keep using the old login and contact support without sharing links or passwords.

Add the web app to your phone

On iPhone, open the stable beta address in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and use Install app or Add to Home screen from the menu. This installs a website shortcut or web app; it is not an App Store or Google Play release. An internet connection is required.

If a cloud save fails

Keep this tab open and export a backup. Unsaved edits have a recovery copy in this tab where browser storage is available. Reloading this same tab can recover them; closing the tab, private browsing or clearing browser storage can remove that copy. This is not an independent backup. If you reopen the same tab and the cloud cannot be read after your account is verified, you can export the recovered changes; saving remains blocked until the cloud is available. If another device changed the diary, export your recovered changes before choosing Load cloud diary.

What's not ready yet?

Password recovery has passed an owner phone test. Expired-link handling, account-security settings, physical-device synchronisation and independent disaster recovery still require verification. Subscriptions and public registration are disabled. Legal and privacy documents must be finalised before public launch.
